NIA’s bassist wrote lyrics for After School

As many of us know, After School have returned with their 1st official full album with a variety of songs including their popular title song Shampoo. There is also a couple solo and duet songs from RainaJungAhNana, and Lizzy.
Well, hellokpop has learned something interesting about one of their songs.
Last year we had the honor of meeting Nia, a 4 girl rock band, in Melbourne, Australia to see their concert and to conduct a fun interview Choi Youngsin, the bass of the band, has now revealed to us that she wrote the lyrics for Raina’s solo song of After School’s 1st album Virgin called 시간에 기대어 (Leaning Against Time,) the 8th track in their album!
Leaning Against Time is composed by Yoo Chi-yeon, who also composed Nia band’s Goodbye. The lyricist as stated before is by Nia’s bass player, Choi Youngsin. The arrangements were done by Shim Taehyun from AshGray withHan Ho-cheol.
We asked what Choi thought of the group and she responded,
I’ve always thought that After School represented Korea’s ‘sexy’ group. Most people think that idol groups just have good performances rather than skill, but After School’s new album shows both strong performance and their skill in singing. Raina is After School’s main vocalist. She surpassed my expectations with the song Leaning Against Time by taking her unique voice style and sung it so beautifully, I am really grateful. I feel really good that I was able to be part of the album.
For those less familiar with NIA, the group is comprised of Soyeon Jeon (vocal), Naray Hwangbo (guitar), YoungsinChoi (bass) and SSeo Ji (drums.) The girls are pure musicians, having studied between then song writing, instruments, and they write their own songs. As you can see from our interview with them, each member has a wonderful personality and they exude charisma.
Nia are preparing for a new song release this summer and are currently working hard on new songs. We at hellokpop are HUGE fans of NIA and we hope that you will support them. These girls are going to rise and rise and hopefully sooner than later we will see them everywhere.
