On September 30, it was confirmed by KBS director Jeon Jin Guk that the European event of Music Bank will be held in Paris. The event will take place in Bercy, France’s biggest indoor venue, which can accommodate up to 18,000 people. The show will be held over two days, Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th of February 2012. KBS will present a prestigious line-up composed of 8 Hallyu stars, including SNSD, SHINee, SISTAR, U-Kiss, Beast, 4Minute, 2PM and T-ara.
With 36,000 attendees as a target, it is set to be the biggest Asian event ever attempted in France, although this event concerns the whole of Europe. Given the high target, a few concerns have already arisen, such as the event taking place on weekdays, which are a non-public holiday period for many Europeans.
KBS might find it a little bit more difficult then, to sell out the event as quickly as SM Entertainment did, back in June, when 14,000 people attended the SM Town concert at the Zenith of Paris, and tickets were sold within a few hours for both shows.
Despite this date dilemma, we hope that this attempt in bringing Kpop to Europe on a bigger scale will meet success, and that many European fans will manage to arrange their journey to Paris to meet idols they weren’t even dreaming of seeing performing, just a few months ago.
This information was officially released via Soompi France, who has been appointed by KBS as their media representative for the event.
