After School sub-unit Orange Caramel is receiving a lot of love for their witty and humorous music video for the the trio’s latest single “Shanghai Romance“. The music video is set in a fictional world created around a traditional Chinese theme, and tells the story of three women — that is, Raina,Nana, and Lizzy– trying to entice a male protagonist.
The music video begins with Raina holding onto a traditional Chinese umbrella as she attempts to capture the attention of a good-looking guy in a restaurant. Unfortunately for Raina, she’s so captivated by him that she runs head first into a lantern. Nana later tries to woo the same man by sending him a wonton in a glass of water only to have him return it. The last competitor, Lizzy tries showing off some leg and smiling coyly, but alas, the guy seems too intent on eating the fried rice in front of him.
Fans are fawning over the “Shanghai Romance” music video for its witty plot as well as the fact that they got to see another side of the gorgeous members of Orange Caramel. They’re also commenting that the group should appear on more variety shows to show off their humor.
Orange Caramel is pushing forward with their “One Asia Project“ theme, and the members are being praised for their ability to pull off the tight-fitting traditional Chinese dresses. The unique concept is said to stand out from other groups as well. “Shanghai Romance” is also pulling in a lot of interest as the lyrics and choreography were created by Kim Heechul of Super Junior.
Fans who watched the video responded, “It’s hard for girl groups to show off their fun side, I think Orange Caramel looks better after seeing their honest charm,” “I think this is the first time I’ve seen a music video like this,” “In any case, who’s the guy in the video? He’s so good looking I’m already a fan,” and “I really like Orange Caramel’s ‘Shanghai Romance’, I’ve already memorized the dance.”
